Part of running a marathon is making a commitment to preparation. Preparation for the hard road ahead. Literally. I’ve done this before, so I know what I am getting myself into.
Last year, I was part of the AIDS Marathon Training Program. I raised nearly $2000 to help those who are living with this horrible disease. I also trained for six months, and completed two marathons. It was awesome.
Now, I want to do it all over again. Early this week, I registered for the program once more. I will be hitting up all of my friends and family for donations once again (To make a donation, please visit http://www.davenadkarni.org). I will be training once again. Although this training program is for the Los Angeles Marathon, I am still very much committed to running the Arizona Rock N’ Roll Marathon in January. This way, I can complete two marathons in 2008.
This year, in the training program, my cousin, Ashu will join me. He has also made the commitment to raise money and train each week. I hope I can provide him with useful knowledge and support to help him cross that finish line in March.
The training program will be pretty close to what I was already doing. Running lightly during the week, mixed with cross training; and then long runs each weekend with a slight taper towards the end of the program. This is very exciting.
Ok, so one more time…I am training and raising money for my favorite AIDS charity. Please visit http://www.davenadkarni.org to make a donation. It can be as small as $5. It will mean alot to me. Doesn’t matter how much it is.

Training is going well. Each day, I feel stronger and a little faster. I haven’t had a chance to blog much lately because I’ve been busy with work, traveling, and getting ready for my parents to visit me.
Later this week, or early next, I will make an announcement regarding my training. I’m not quitting…to the contrary actually…stay tuned.

I have a long history with milk. I once worked for a marketing campaign for this seemingly delicious beverage.
Today, after a short maintainence run, I came home and was in need of something cold. Something delicious. All I had in the fridge was some milk. It hadn’t expired yet, so I thought I’d pour myself a glass. Big mistake…huge mistake. Ten minutes after finishing the glass, I felt my stomach turning and rumbling. Soon after, I ran straight to the bathroom and puked it up.
I don’t want to drink milk ever again.

So today is a day off from training…Thank God.
Yesterday, I had a maintainance run. Just a short 35 minute easy run. These are the runs that are supposed keep the legs strong and flexible.
It was still a little warm out, so I hit the treadmill at the gym. It was great…I was a bit sore the first 15-20 minutes, but once I got going, I felt awesome! I think I might have felt a little too awesome because I started to push myself the last several minutes.
I ended up coughing up a storm because of my asthma and I left my inhaler at home. I will never, EVER, be without my inhaler again. I promise.
I’m still on the fence about training with the AIDS Marathon group. The next several weekends are jam packed with activities.

So it’s been a couple of days since I’ve written a post. Training was all going as planned until thursday when it started getting super super hot. The nighttime (usually when I train) temperatures were still in the 90′s so I had to settle for running indoors on a treadmill.
I also spent the weekend relaxing and hanging out with my family. On Saturday, we went to Zuma Beach which was freaking amazing.
I spent a great amount of time running around, getting eaten up by big waves, throwing around a football, etc. But since then, l’ve been sunburned and my right foot is hurting. Not sure what’s wrong, but hopefully it will heal itself so I can resume my training program by tuesday.

P.S. I apologize for any grammatical and spelling errors. I’m writing this from my phone.
